Why Not Cheat?

I mean, it obviously works. The only NFL team to ever be caught doing serious in-game cheating is also the team who has won 4 Super Bowls (yes, I’m counting the 2007 Super Bowl yet to be played) and is on its way to becoming the first NFL team to ever go undefeated in a full-length season. And I can’t tell you how many people I’ve talked to in reference to the cheating scandal who have said, “Oh please Jason — everybody cheats.” Well, they apparently don’t cheat as well as the Patriots, do they? But if everybody does it already, then why not do it even more, and put more energy and time and effort into it?

Sometimes you get lucky and your decisions pay off. Sometimes you get unlucky and your decisions backfire. And sometimes you cheat and it doesn’t matter what decisions you made. Cheating is the only sure thing — so why not?

  1. The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the greatest football teams, and have won 5 Super Bowls. Not only are they not known for cheating, Pittsburgh teams continue to raise the bar. Ours in the only city where all major sports teams share alike colors (black and gold). Also, none of our teams have cheerleaders, as owner Mr.Rooney starting the trend by declaring that cheerleading was taking away from the game and becoming so raunchy that it was disrepectful to family enjoyment of the sport. And I mean, they are awesome. Can we say immaculate reception? Don’t cheat. Be a STEELERS fan.
